I know I’ve been just awful about writing lately; I’ve been busy having fun. Last week we went to the zoo one day and to play at the McDonald’s playground another day. Believe, you can easily turn that into a whole morning. We’ve been “on the go” quite a bit. This morning, we went to a friend’s house to play and then to Granny’s this afternoon. Now that Princess is only taking one nap a day, it’s easier to get out and do more. I’m hoping to go somewhere fun on Wednesday as well.
I’m also trying to get things together for Speedy’s 3rd birthday party. It’s this coming Saturday and I haven’t done much at all to prepare. We’re not doing anything huge, just having some friends get together at the playground for cake and ice cream. He is very excited – he picked out a construction themed cake and every day asks if we can go and pick it up. He’s also asked me twice if today is his party.
I love that he is so excited and that he’s old enough to understand what having a birthday party means. But I still can’t believe he’s three. He’s not a todler anymore; he’s my little boy. and it’s wonderful and heartbreaking all at the same time.
In my mother’s devotional the other day, I read one woman regrets on her children’s early days, “I wish I’d spent more time in the sand box.” It’s not a new concept or something I haven’t thought of before, it’s just that it really struck a chord in my heart. My little miracles are growing up so quickly and tomorrow will be here before we know it. There will come a time when they’d rather be with their friends then their mom so i want to get as much time as I can now. I’m enjoying the little things more and more.
Like Speedy not napping today. He pulled the covers and pillow off of his bed and made a “kitty bed” on the floor and layed in it for a while but mostly just played. When i went in there to tell him he could get up, he saw me coming in and layed down and closed his eyes real fast like he was asleep the whole time. I crawled over to him and tickled his belly and he said, “i’m awake now!” Duh…. It was funny.
Yesterday he was touching the satellite box under the tv and I said, “Speedy, take your hand off the box” so he did. And started trying to touch the buttons with his elbow instead. What could I do but laugh? That kid……
